Our waffle maker was on fire until we came to Germany, we used it a lot! We are okay without it, but it’s so useful we miss it so much. ? I didn’t know you can make sooo many things with a waffle maker, I’m so impressed! It’s so clean and easy to use, and we also saved time because we made some recipes that we used to make using the oven and the waffle maker cooks the food much faster, like for example ourfalafel waffles, you need to give them a try!
These waffles are so delicious, satisfying and perfect to eat on the go, you can eat them at room temperature or reheat them. We love to add somehealthy ketchupon top and eat them with a bowl of salad, it’s a wonderful meal!
If you want to save some time in the kitchen, you can make big batches of these amazing waffles and freeze them. Then you just need to let them at room temperature and reheat them in the waffle maker, it’s so convenient!

Tips:
- Feel free to use any type of potatoes or anyplant milkyou want. You can also use water, although the waffles will have a less intense flavor.
- We used steamed potatoes, but boiled potatoes will work as well.
- If you can’t find nutritional yeast, use some brewer’s yeast instead or add less milk and use some beer to get that cheesy flavor, it’s not the same, but it works pretty well.
- Buckwheat and brown rice flours are our favorite ones, but any other flour is okay, although you’ll probably need to add more or less.
- Spring onions or any other veggies can be used instead of the spring garlics.

Vegan Gluten Free Potato Waffles

These vegan gluten free potato waffles are delicious, satisfying and so convenient. You can make big batches of these beauties and then freeze them.
Ingredients
- 1pound peeled potatoes (450 g)
- 1/2 cupsoy milk(125ml)
- 4 tbspnutritional yeast
- 2 tsponion powder
- 1 tspgarlic powder
- 1 tspsea salt
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 cupbuckwheat flour (140 g)
- 2small spring garlics, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes and steam them for 15 to 20 minutes or until they’re soft.
- Place them in a large mixing bowl and wait until they’re cold enough you can touch them.
- Add the rest of the ingredients except the flour and the spring garlics and stir with a spoon.
- Add the flour and mix well. Add the chopped spring garlics and mix again. Use your hands if necessary.
- Preheat the waffle maker. Once the waffle maker is ready, you can generously coat with non-stick spray or some oil (extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil are my favorite ones). We didn’t do this, but it’s up to you.
- Add the batter into the waffle maker and cook according to manufacturer’s instructions. My waffles were ready in 7 minutes.
- Serve with your favorite sauce on top. We added some ketchup.

I made these tonight and the flavor was really good. Husband enjoyed thoroughly. I made the full recipe and yielded 8 “waffles.” My question is regarding the consistency of the “batter.” It was thick! Like scooping peanut butter onto the waffle iron. They did cook in approximately seven minutes, but I then put them in a warm oven while I prepared the rest. So is the yield of 8 assuming that each person gets one? Or did I mess up by having my batter be so thick. I used oat milk. I will definitely be making them again, as the flavor is really good!! Thanks!!!
